We have prepared a base mix for those of you who still would like to mix their own food at home without the guesswork. It contains rabbit food, a blend of dry dog food, to include fish and chicken in the mix and some good quality mixers. A handful of hempseed was added for good measure!
You can now use 7 parts of our Melange 70:30 and mix it with 3 parts of mixed breakfast cereals.
It is best to stick to low sugar cereals. You might find that supermarkets own brands often have the lowest amount of added sugar and salt. You should pick those. Good choices of cereals are puffed wheat, shredded wheat, broken up wheat bix, puffed rice or broken up rice cakes, puffed millet, corn flakes, corn cakes, jumbo oats.
You will want to mix 3 scoops of a mix of cereals to 7 scoops of Melange 70:30 to make up a dry food for your rats, to be fed alongside fresh foods, as part of a healthy diet.
